Boomerang Quilt

Here’s a quilt you’ll want to make again and again. It may look complicated but it’s really very easy to do with the Super Sidekick Ruler by Jaybird Quilts or a 60 degree triangle ruler. Grab a bundle of coordinating solids, basics or even small prints. Class will cover making the lap size quilt (56x72) but the pattern includes material list for 5 sizes.
There will be two sessions. You’ll learn to cut and sew the blocks during the first class and the next month come back to learn how to assemble your quilt top.
Pattern and Super Sidekick ruler can be purchased at the shop.
Supply List:
For the lap size quilt you will need (23) Fat quarters or 1/4 yard cuts, (1) yard for setting triangles and binding and 4 yards for the backing
Bring to class your sewing machine, all usual sewing notions, neutral thread
Rotary cutter
Pins
1/4” presser foot will be helpful as sewing an accurate 1/4” seam is essential with this pattern
Pattern and ruler- if using a 60 degree triangle ruler instead of the Super Sidekick ruler, make sure it can cut a 6 1/2” triangle.
Class Preparation:
Press all fabric using Best Press or starch.
Follow directions on page 2 of your pattern and cut all fabric into the specified number of
3 1/2” strips.. Use the chart based on which fabric cut you’re using -fat quarters or 1/4 yd cuts.
Follow directions on page 4 of your pattern to cut the fabric strips needed for the Half Triangles. The lap quilt requires you to cut (2) 6 1/2” x WOF strips.
