Introduction to Foundation Paper Piecing

Come join us to learn a new skill or just refresh an old one. FPP can be done by anyone of any skill level. If you can sew on a straight line, you can Foundation Paper Piece. We’ll start off making the Economy block, but the skills you’ll learn will open up hundreds of options.

Supplies needed:

Foundation papers- (4) will be given out during class. You’ll have the option to purchase additional pads of the FPP papers if you want to continue with this block to make a larger project.

Fabric- this project is great for scraps. You’ll need to cut the following sizes and bring them to class: 3 1/2” squares and 4 1/2” squares. Make sure to have at least (2) of each size in the same fabric. Each block will use (3) different fabrics so have fun pulling scraps from your stash. You’ll be mixing and matching.

Add-A-Quarter Plus ruler- either the 6” or 12” will work for this project

Bring your sewing machine with new needle, neutral thread, roll of scotch tape, rotary cutter with small cutting mat and either a mini iron and ironing pad or a fabric roller. (The fabric roller is my preferred choice)

Having an open toe presser foot so you can view the line easily is helpful.

Also,  bring a small quilting ruler and all other necessary notions.

Be sure to know how to shorten the stitch length on your machine.
